WIZZ AIR WELCOMED MORE THAN 1 MILLION PASSENGERS TO AND FROM SAUDI ARABIA IN 2023
The leading ultra-low-cost carrier offered more than 1.2 million affordable travel opportunities between the Kingdom and 23 European destinations in 2023
22 December 2023, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Wizz Air, Europe’s fastest growing and most sustainable airline globally, is proud to announce a significant milestone on its operational results for 2023 in Saudi Arabia. In 2023, the airline has officially carried more than one million passengers to and from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). This historic achievement for WIZZ emphasises the airline’s commitment to providing affordable, hassle-free and accessible travel options for Saudi residents as well as visitors from around the world.
In the past year, Wizz Air has started a new era of travel by investing a capacity of four aircraft equivalent to 500 million Euros and launching 24 low-fare routes to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The new routes unlocked more than 1.2 million ultra-low-cost seats on flights to and from the Kingdom, strengthening Saudi Arabia’s global connectivity and stimulating significant international demand to the Kingdom. The airline carried more than 600,000 international visitors, boosting the growing Saudi Arabian tourism sector and contributing to Saudi’s plan to triple the country’s passenger traffic by 2030.
Wizz Air’s “Let’s Get Lost” campaign to Saudi Arabia was another major success in 2023, solidifying the Kingdom’s position as an emerging must-see destination. The airline took 150 Italian passengers to explore Riyadh, Al Ahsa and Dammam, showcasing the amazing offerings of the Kingdom while basking in the great Saudi hospitality. The campaign generated 90 million views on social media from user-generated content and 150 million impressions across various media platforms.
