Dubai GEP to Share Stakeholder Success Stories at WETEX 2016

The Dubai Green Economy Partnership (Dubai GEP), launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, will highlight the successful initiatives of its stakeholders at WETEX 2016 happening at Dubai World Trade Centre from 4-6 October.


Visitors to the stand can see various presentations on the status of initiatives launched in association with its partners. Dubai Science Park will highlight the results of the Green Leadership Series (GLS), which is organized twice a year, by Dubai GEP in partnership with Dubai Science Park to discuss the growth of alternative energy, and environmental industries. Dubai GEP will also highlight commercial opportunities under the Green Deal initiative.


Other important events also include presentations by Etihad ESCO on energy savings achieved through efficient street lighting project of DEWA and another presentation on ENOC’s sustainability efforts. Armando Dominioni, Senior Manager from DEWA will present Shams Dubai initiative at GEP stand on Tuesday Dubai GEP stakeholders including Dubai Investment Development Agency (FDI), Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), EGA, RTA, Dubai Municipality, and Dubai Carbon Center of Excellence (Dubai Carbon) will also present their approach, achievements, and challenges in implementing green projects and initiatives.


HE Ahmad Butti Saeed Al Muhairbi, Chairman of Dubai GEP, commented: “Our aim to facilitate the transition of Dubai to a green economy has come to fruition, as our stakeholders have successfully implemented many initiatives and adopted technologies that make their daily operations efficient and sustainable. We hope to play a significant part in achieving Dubai’s Vision 2021 goals, and in promoting public-private partnerships. Dubai is marching towards being one of the most sustainable economies, thanks to the knowledge sharing and cross-sector collaboration model encouraged by our leaders.”


Fahad Al Gergawi, Secretary-General of GEP, commented: “Dubai GEP has been acting as a platform for its stakeholders to discuss opportunities and challenges, and integrating public and private efforts, which is inevitable for Dubai’s transformation to a green economy. We, with Dubai GEP, will continue to promote green trade and investments as well as the adoption of green technologies in regional and global markets.”


Dubai GEP is co-located with Dubai Carbon at Energy Hall (Hall 6), stand A66. Visitors to the stand will be able to understand best practices in conceptualizing and maintaining projects in the green economy and learn about commercial opportunities in the sector.


Dubai Green Economy Partnership is the first multi-stakeholder and cross-sector partnership to promote the transition to a green and low-carbon economy in the Middle East. The programs and initiatives of Dubai GEP aim to enable the growth of green trade and investment and accelerate the adoption of green technologies, products, and services across regional and global markets.
