The Euromoney Saudi Arabia Conference Starts on 3 May
H.E. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf, Minister of Finance, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will be the first in a series of distinguished keynote speakers at the Euromoney Saudi Arabia Conference on Tuesday, as the biggest financial conference in the Kingdom reviews the bold steps being taken to transform the economy.
Last week, the government unveiled a long-term strategy to build a prosperous and sustainable economic future for the Kingdom, which will include a raft of regulatory and policy changes. The Euromoney Saudi Arabia Conference will see more than 1,600 delegates gather to discuss the potential impact of these plans, including leaders from across the Kingdom’s business community and representatives of some of the world’s largest banks.
A key area of focus of the new strategy is diversifying the economy, raising the proportion of non-oil exports in its non-oil gross domestic product (GDP) from the current 16 percent to 50 percent.
Major speakers providing their perspective on this ambitious “Saudi Vision 2030” on the opening day of the Conference will include H.E. Dr. Tawfig Alrabiah, Minister of Commerce and Industry; and H.E. Dr. Mufarrej Saad Al-Haqbani, Minister of Labour.
Christopher Garnett, Divisional Director, Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC, who will moderate the opening discussions, said: “Saudi Arabia has unveiled a bold plan to diversify its economy, increase liquidity in its capital markets, and to enhance the role of the debt market. We are very pleased to welcome such senior speakers to the stage for the Euromoney Saudi Arabia Conference, who will be able to provide a holistic view of the plans in place and the exciting opportunities of the future.”
The first day will also feature an interview with H.E. Mr Mohammed Al-Jadaan, Chairman, Capital Market Authority and a dedicated securities and markets interview, with Khalid Abdullah Al Hussan, Chief Executive Officer, Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul).
International perspective will be provided through interviews with a number of senior executives from global financial companies, including Mahmood Hashim Alkooheji, Chief Executive Officer, Mumtalakat; Sheila Patel, Chief Executive Officer, International Goldman Sachs Asset Management; and Richard F. Lacaille, Global Chief Investment Officer, State Street Global Advisors.
The 2016 Euromoney Saudi Arabia Conference is co-hosted with the Ministry of Finance and takes place from 3-4 May at the Al Faisaliah Hotel in Riyadh.
