SanDisk Launches SANDISK Optimus SSD Brand at CES 2026
SanDisk announced the launch of SANDISK Optimus SSD as the new brand name for its internal solid-state drive lineup targeting gamers, creators, and professionals at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. The rebrand consolidates the company’s WD_BLACK and WD Blue NVMe SSD products under a unified portfolio featuring three distinct performance tiers.
SANDISK Optimus SSD Portfolio Structure
The new SANDISK Optimus SSD lineup encompasses three product lines designed for different user segments. The base SANDISK Optimus tier targets content creators seeking balanced speed and affordability, replacing the WD Blue brand including the WD Blue SN5100 NVMe SSD.
The SANDISK Optimus GX line focuses on gaming performance with faster load times and expanded capacity, previously marketed under the WD_BLACK brand including the WD_BLACK SN7100 NVMe SSD. At the top tier, SANDISK Optimus GX PRO represents the flagship offering for developers and professionals building AI PCs and high-end workstations, incorporating the former WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe SSD.
Strategic Rebrand and Market Positioning
The rebrand reflects SanDisk’s strategy to create clearer performance differentiation and simplify product selection for consumers. The new packaging and design draw inspiration from the company’s flash memory innovation heritage while maintaining the quality standards established by the previous WD brands.
