PayTabs Egypt Partners with Edita to Streamline Payment Collections

PayTabs Egypt has formed a partnership with Edita Trade, a subsidiary of packaged snack food company Edita Food Industries, to integrate cash collection solutions into Edita’s distribution operations. The collaboration, announced December 14, will connect Edita to over 550,000 point-of-sale (POS) machines across Egypt through a unified platform.

Key Takeaways

  • Edita gains access to 550,000+ POS machines through four cash aggregators via single dashboard
  • Partnership aims to reduce operational complexity and costs in cash collection from distributors
  • PayTabs Egypt, founded by Saudi entrepreneur, continues regional expansion in fintech infrastructure

How the Partnership Works

The PayTabs Egypt Edita partnership enables the food distributor to collect payments from end-point distributors nationwide without managing relationships with multiple cash aggregators individually. According to the companies, Edita will be the first Egyptian firm to access such an extensive POS network through a single integrated solution.

The platform provides centralized transaction visibility and real-time reporting. This replaces previous methods requiring separate coordination with multiple payment service providers.

Operational Benefits and Technology

Edita’s distribution network will utilize PayTabs Egypt’s unified dashboard to process transactions across the aggregator network. The companies state this integration reduces costs associated with traditional cash collection methods and improves cash flow transparency.

The solution addresses logistical challenges in Egypt’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, where distributors often handle high volumes of cash transactions across geographically dispersed locations.

Company Statements

Haytham Morsy, VP of Commercial and Business Development at PayTabs Egypt, said the partnership “demonstrates PayTabs Egypt’s commitment to providing innovative solutions that empower businesses” in the digital economy.

Diana Wadid, Group Treasury Senior Director at Edita, noted the collaboration would “improve efficiency and transparency” while enhancing the distributor experience. She added that Edita expects to gain competitive advantages through PayTabs Egypt’s network access.

About the Companies

PayTabs Egypt operates as part of Saudi-founded PayTabs Group, which launched in 2014. The parent company has expanded across multiple MENA markets including Jordan and the UAE. In October 2024, PayTabs was recognized among the top 100 global fintech companies, according to the company.

Edita Food Industries, founded in 1996 and listed on the Egyptian Exchange, manufactures brands including TODO, Molto, and Bake Rolz. The company holds the exclusive rights to Hostess brands across 16 markets in the Middle East and North Africa. In the second half of 2024, Edita derived 92.3% of revenue from Egypt and 7.7% from exports.

What’s Next

The partnership adds to PayTabs Egypt’s portfolio of collaborations with regional businesses. The company has previously partnered with logistics provider Ship Blu, wealth management firm Azimut, and Banque Misr. However, timeline details for the Edita integration rollout were not disclosed.
