New BMW Motorrad R 12 and R 12 nineT motorbikes launched in Saudi Arabia tap into brand’s heritage and boxer engine legacy

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; 29 July 2024: Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors, the official importer of BMW Group vehicles in Saudi Arabia, has launched the highly-anticipated new BMW R 12 and R 12 nineT motorcycles. These two stunning models embody BMW Motorrad’s commitment to blending classic design with modern technology and elevated craftsmanship, offering riders in Saudi Arabia a unique and thrilling experience.
The BMW R 12 and R 12 nineT are more than just motorcycles — they are a continuation of the BMW Motorrad brand’s rich heritage and its classic boxer engine legacy. Catering to different rider preferences, these new models promise to capture the hearts of both roadster enthusiasts and cruiser aficionados. The R 12 nineT, a classic roadster, is designed for dynamic riding on winding country roads and stylish urban cruising, while the R 12, a classic cruiser, offers a cool, relaxed biking experience.
Celebrating 100 years of BMW Motorrad, the new models feature a beefy air/oil-cooled boxer 1,170 cc engine, building on the legacy of the two-cylinder engine and the traditional use of a propellor shaft drive.
BMW Motorrad has always prioritised attention to detail and the new R 12 models are no exception. Drawing on the design legacy of the boxer engine, the BMW R 12 features a steel tank inspired by the “Toaster Tanks” of the 1970s BMW /5 series motorcycles. When it comes to power, the R 12 offers 95 hp at 6,500 rpm – accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. Riding modes include “Roll” and “Rock”, and standard instrumentation for the R 12 is limited to the speedometer, with the option to retrofit a rev counter.
Meanwhile, the BMW R 12 nineT’s engine delivers an impressive 109 hp at 7,000 rpm, going from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. The R 12 nineT comes equipped with two analogue round instruments for speed and RPMs, and standard riding modes are “Rain”, “Road” and “Dynamic”, ensuring a safe and customisable riding experience. Design-wise, it sports side covers in the frame triangle, in the authentic Roadster look, also inspired by the 1970s models. Wherever it goes, the R 12 nineT immediately takes center stage. The golden upside-down fork, numerous aluminum parts, the two round instruments – every detail makes for an unforgettable presentation.
Both bikes come equipped with a new airbox integrated under the seat and a left-mounted “Twin Pipe” exhaust system, combining aesthetics with performance.
For safety, radially mounted 4-piston monobloc brake callipers, steel flex brake lines, and floating 310 mm brake discs with BMW Motorrad ABS Pro keep the rider safe during braking, even when cornering.
One of the standout features is the completely redesigned tubular bridge steel spaceframe, which gives the bikes a cleaner and more classic appearance while reducing weight. This new frame concept, along with the high level of customisation available, allows riders to make each bike truly their own.
Riders can choose from three attractive paintwork options for each model, ensuring that the bikes not only perform well but also make a stylish statement.
