Lucid, Nuro and Uber Unveil Luxury Autonomous Robotaxi Service at CES 2026
Three major technology companies have joined forces to launch what they describe as the industry’s most luxurious autonomous robotaxi service. Lucid Group, Nuro, and Uber Technologies unveiled their production-ready vehicles at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026 in Las Vegas, marking a significant milestone in the commercial deployment of self-driving transportation.
Advanced Technology and Testing Phase
The autonomous robotaxi service entered its testing phase in December 2025, with Nuro leading on-road trials using engineering prototypes supervised by autonomous vehicle operators in the San Francisco Bay Area. This testing represents a crucial step toward commercial launch later in 2026.
The robotaxi features a comprehensive sensor array including high-resolution cameras, solid-state lidar sensors, and radars providing 360-degree perception. These sensors integrate throughout the Lucid Gravity’s body and a purpose-built roof-mounted halo module that maintains the vehicle’s design while maximizing visibility.
Premium Passenger Experience Features
- Halo-mounted LED system displaying rider initials and status updates from pickup to dropoff
- Interactive screens allowing passengers to control climate, music, and support options
- Real-time visualization showing the vehicle’s perception and planned route
- Spacious configuration accommodating up to six passengers with generous luggage space
- NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor computing platform for real-time AI processing
By bringing together Nuro’s proven level 4 autonomy, Lucid’s advanced vehicle architecture, and Uber’s global reach, we’re building a robotaxi service designed for real-world operations and long-term growth.

Production Timeline and Market Launch
Following final validation testing, production of the autonomous robotaxi service vehicles is scheduled to begin at Lucid’s Arizona manufacturing facility later in 2026. The service will initially launch in the San Francisco Bay Area before expanding to additional markets.
CES 2026 attendees can view the robotaxi at NVIDIA’s showcase at the Fontainebleau Hotel from January 5-8, 2026. The collaboration combines Nuro’s autonomous driving technology, Lucid’s electric vehicle platform, and Uber’s ride-hailing infrastructure to create a comprehensive transportation solution.
