LINKSYS MESH MAKES WAVES ACROSS UAE, SECURING 89% MARKET SHARE

A dynamic home Wi-Fi solution that extends 100% connectivity to every corner of the home is among Linksys® innovations on show at GITEX Technology Week. Linksys Velop is the Mesh system that is recognized for its strong performance, simple setup and elegant design.
Linksys® – a leader in home and business networking solutions – is displaying Velop® at the mammoth Dubai trade fair, the largest of its kind worldwide.
“Consumers are accepting mesh more widely, as awareness of the technology has increased rapidly, since the introduction earlier this year,” said Amanullah Khan, Managing Director, Linksys, Middle East, Turkey & Africa.
“We predict that uptake will continue to increase with more and more smart devices in every household and need for futureproof Wi-Fi coverage throughout homes, with the overall market share greatest within the networking categories.”
Linksys was one of the first firms to bring mesh to the Middle East and has invested heavily in changing the public’s mindset and educating them about the benefits. Using a combination of in-store displays, launch programs, partner training, and demonstrations, it continues to highlight the benefits of mesh systems over the regular ‘router plus range extender’ combination.
“Our mesh network is superior to those available in the market as it is the only one to offer the sophisticated triband true mesh solution,” Khan added
Linksys now holds an impressive 89% market share in the Middle East, according to brand research by market analysts GFK. While its studies of networking trends revealed adoption across the region as a whole currently stands at 1%, and since Velop’s launch, there has been rapid uptake of the product in the region – GFK witnessed 15% growth in June alone.
Groundbreaking Device
Velop® is the first triband modular Wi-Fi system that can be installed in a variety of mesh configurations.
Launched in March, the versatile, sleek, and super-effective router provides fast, reliable Wi-Fi right to the edge of a home network.
Khan said: “Underneath Velop’s elegant appearance lies a seriously powerful Wi-Fi management tool – each ‘node’ is a powerful Tri-Band AC2200 device that serves as router, range extender, access point, and bridge.
“Velop delivers 100% Internet speed right to the edge of their networks; its performance is truly exceptional.”
Each node is configured during setup by the accompanying Linksys app, available for iOS and Android. This provides the industry’s simplest and most intuitive setup, leveraging Bluetooth to securely communicate with mobile devices.
Velop is sold in packs of one, two, and three router units, catering to consumers living and working in buildings of varying sizes. For instance, a person living in a studio flat would have very different requirements than a family occupying a five-bedroom house. The product’s minimalist, modern styling also offers something new to the market; unlike conventional routers, which typically resemble ugly black or grey boxes, the sleek shape will make owners feel comfortable about placing it prominently on show.
Khan added: “Thoughtful, innovative aspects such as device prioritization and parental controls help users make the most out of their broadband subscription.
“As well as being small and pleasing to the eye, Velop is also reassuringly futureproof, so customers won’t have to rush out and buy separate products as they bring new and more devices into the home.”
Linksys has already released multiple updates of both the software and firmware, and will continue to make regular modifications in response to customer feedback. For instance, in June, the company added a browser-based user interface giving users access to advanced features and manage their home networks from Mac and Windows computers as well as iOS and Android devices. However, in Khan’s opinion, Velop’s number-one selling point is the fact that Linksys owns the platform – the company has developed it from scratch, creating and enhancing both software for the app and firmware.
He added: “Linksys continues to refine its firmware for better performance and the app software to deliver a better user experience. Stay tuned for more hardware announcements from us later in the year.”
Linksys will exhibit in Hall 2 under the ‘Gulf Comms’ category at GITEX Technology Week 2017, which runs at Dubai World Trade Centre from 8-12 October.
