JA Solar Secures 1.2 GW Module Supply Deal for Samarkand Solar Projects in Uzbekistan
JA Solar has signed a major supply agreement with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) to deliver photovoltaic modules for the Samarkand solar projects in Uzbekistan. The deal, finalized on November 7, 2025, covers complete module supply for both utility-scale facilities with a combined capacity of 1.2 gigawatts peak (GWp).
Samarkand 1 and 2: Major Renewable Energy Initiative
The Samarkand solar projects, developed by ACWA Power, represent one of Uzbekistan’s most significant renewable energy developments. Located in the Samarkand region, these facilities are expected to generate sufficient electricity to power approximately 600,000 homes once operational.
The projects will contribute to avoiding approximately 1.4 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. This aligns with Uzbekistan’s national commitment to generate 25% of electricity from renewable sources by 2030, accelerating the country’s clean energy transition.

The collaboration between ACWA Power, L&T, and JA Solar demonstrates a shared commitment to developing high-performance, financially reliable solar assets in emerging markets.
