Huawei Unveils Wheelchair Mode on HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 at GITEX 2025, Empowering People of Determination
Dubai, UAE – October 13, 2025:
During Huawei’s GITEX Global 2025 event in Dubai, the company unveiled a groundbreaking accessibility feature for its latest HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Series the Wheelchair Mode, marking a major step toward inclusive health technology.
The feature, inspired by a suggestion from H.E. Majid Rashed, President of the Asian Paralympic Committee, will be delivered through a global software update in early November, with its official consumer launch aligned with the Dubai Ride event.
“Movement is different for everyone,” said a Huawei spokesperson during the presentation. “We want to ensure that everyone is included. The new Wheelchair Mode helps users track pushes, calories, and active time, empowering them to lead healthier, more active lives.”
Technology Built for Inclusion
Huawei explained that Wheelchair Mode leverages inertial measurement units (IMUs), push-detection algorithms, and wheel rotation sensors to determine push frequency, speed, and distance. Combined with the HUAWEI TruSense System, which provides continuous heart-rate monitoring, SpO₂ tracking, calorie estimation, and pressure sensing, the feature delivers a comprehensive wellness profile tailored for wheelchair users.
H.E. Majid Rashed praised Huawei’s inclusive innovation:
“When I first suggested the idea of a wheelchair mode, I hoped to see a brand take this step toward true inclusivity. Huawei not only listened but acted with great determination. By bringing this feature to life, Huawei has shown a genuine commitment to empowering people of determination and ensuring technology serves everyone equally.”

Global Leadership and Local Inspiration
Globally, more than 80 million people rely on wheelchairs for mobility. For them, Huawei’s innovation offers more than fitness tracking — it’s a tool for health monitoring, injury prevention, and personal empowerment.
“At Huawei, we believe technology should empower everyone,” said Bruce Li, Country Manager, Huawei CBG UAE. “With the official rollout in November and the public debut during Dubai Ride, we’re proud to deliver a feature that embodies our belief in innovation for all.”

In 2025 alone, Huawei surpassed 200 million global wearable shipments, reaffirming its leadership as the No. 1 wearable brand worldwide.
Smart Design Meets Everyday Safety
The HUAWEI WATCH GT 6 Series continues Huawei’s tradition of excellence, offering:
