The Digital Cooperation Organization is building an inclusive digital future based on trust, talent empowerment, and advanced technologies, according to Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology. Engineer Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha emphasized these priorities during his address at the organization’s General Assembly meeting on February 4, 2026.

Speaking at the gathering, Minister Al-Swaha highlighted the importance of strengthening international cooperation to create a comprehensive digital ecosystem. He stressed that artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies must be harnessed responsibly to serve humanity and drive sustainable economic growth across member nations.

Kuwait’s Leadership and Strategic Initiatives

The minister praised Kuwait’s pioneering role during its presidency of the Digital Cooperation Organization. Under Kuwait’s leadership, the organization launched qualitative initiatives including combating misinformation, enhancing trusted data flows, and introducing a responsible artificial intelligence framework. These efforts have significantly strengthened the reliability of the global digital environment.

Economic Impact of Digital Cooperation Organization

Al-Swaha pointed to the growing influence of the organization, whose member states represent approximately 10% of the world’s population. The Digital Cooperation Organization contributes nearly $3.6 trillion to the global economy, achieving growth rates that exceed the global average. This economic momentum demonstrates the transformative power of digital collaboration among member nations.

Digital Talent Development Across Member States

The minister highlighted the remarkable growth in digital talent across member countries. The organization’s nations are home to more than two million technology specialists who have contributed to the emergence of 16 unicorn companies and successful entrepreneurial models in recent years. This talent pool represents a critical asset for driving innovation and digital transformation.

Saudi Arabia’s National Digital Achievements

Regarding national accomplishments, Al-Swaha revealed that Saudi Arabia has achieved significant milestones in the digital economy. Notable achievements include the first researcher from the region winning a Nobel Prize through artificial intelligence solutions in chemistry, and the participation of the first Arab Muslim woman at the International Space Station conducting advanced medical research.

The minister concluded by emphasizing the importance of investing in digital infrastructure to support the digital economy in the intelligent era. He called for strengthening international partnerships to achieve sustainable digital growth that serves humanity and the global economy, ensuring that technological advancement benefits all member states equally.
