Empower heads to ASHRAE Winter Conference and AHR Expo 2017 in USA
A senior delegation headed by HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, has headed to Las Vegas, USA, to participate in the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Winter Conference 2017 and AHR Expo 2017 which are being held from 28 January to 1 February 2017.
ASHRAE is the biggest global gathering of cooling services providers, aimed at uniting all stakeholders and encouraging sharing the ideas and technological systems in the cooling sector. ASHRAE also works on finding creative solutions to boost the efficiency of energy consumption, upgrade the cooling industry and support sustainability.
Commenting on Empower’s participation, HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, said: “In line with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai an innovation hub, and from the standpoint of Empower being the world’s leader in the district cooling field, we are adopting the latest technologies and the best energy systems installed worldwide. We have a lot of international activities in several environment related projects all over the world and with the United Nations as well in many developing countries. Empower is keen to exchange expertise with international participants in district cooling services field. We also aim to display its expertise and learn from others in the field of advanced energy and water management systems.”
The conference consists of a variety of events, training and educational activities and seminars inside ASHRAE such as: “Classification of coolers according to the changing needs of society”, “Design, operation, and application variables of the coolers”, and “The design of ground pump systems with reasonable prices”. The seminars also discuss several vital issues affecting the cooling industry worldwide such as: “The effects of climate change on the cooling industry”, “Water energy management systems” and many other important topics. Over 200 international experts specialised in cooling field and energy management are attending the conference. The keynote speaker at the conference is Adam Steltzner, Chief Engineer of NASA’s mission to mars ‘Curiosity Rover’.
