Reimagining foldable smartphones with an extremely lightweight design, durable built, and next-level camera

Riyadh, 17 May 2023: Huawei Tech Investment Saudi Arabia announced the launch of the HUAWEI Mate X3 in the local market. It is the world’s first ultra-light, ultra-thin, quad-curve, and large-screen foldable smartphone[1], setting a new standard for how light, thin, and reliable a foldable smartphone can be. Users will enjoy the immersive experience of a large foldable screen and an exquisitely comfortable grip, which is comparable to that of a regular smartphone.

The HUAWEI Mate X3 launch heralds a new era for foldable phones, and delivers the ideal premium foldable screen experience to users with leading technological innovations. The HUAWEI Mate X3 will be available in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in select retail stores through Huawei’s official website on May 24th at a price of 7699 Saudi Riyals, with pre-orders available now including an exciting gift bundle valued at 3229 SAR which includes the HUAWEI Buds and a HUAWEI Mate X3 VIP gift card including 15 Months Accidental Damage Protection with 1 Replacement, a One-Time Home Repair, and 200GB of Huawei Mobile Cloud Free for 3 months.

Ultra-light and thin design

The HUAWEI Mate X3 pushes the limits of imagination with its ultra-light weight of 239g[2] and an astounding thickness of just 11.08mm[3] when folded, and 5.3mm[4] when unfolded, making it the world’s slimmest and lightest large-screen foldable smartphone. The rounded, quad-curve body offers an unparalleled comfortable and smooth grip. It achieves breakthrough weight reduction through the industry’s unique ultra-light and strong aluminium and ultra-light carbon fibre. The HUAWEI Mate X3 also features the industry’s slimmest-ever Type-C connector with an integrated structural design, offering unparalleled thinness and durability.

Durable Kunlun Glass

For all-day peace of mind, the HUAWEI Mate X3 has obtained the first Swiss SGS dual five-star certifications[5] by using the durable Kunlun Glass for the exterior screen and an impact-resistant foldable interior screen. The exterior screen, equipped with ultra-reliable Kunlun Glass, is 10 times more drop-resistant[6]. The interior screen adopts a new composite screen structure, using impact-resistant non-Newtonian fluid materials to provide force-dependent variable strength. This makes the interior screen four times more impact-resistant, ensuring lasting protection for daily use.

All-round imaging capabilities: periscope telephoto camera, faster shooting

The HUAWEI Mate X3 sets a new standard in imaging with Ultra Vision XMAGE technology. The smartphone is equipped with a 50 MP Ultra Vision Main Camera, a 13 MP Ultra-Wide Angle Camera, and a 12 MP Periscope Telephoto Camera. The periscope telephoto lens supports a maximum of 5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom. Moreover, the HUAWEI Mate X3’s main camera and telephoto lens come with an RYYB sensor, which takes in 40% more light, generating vivid images even in dimly lit environments.

Equipped with the XD Fusion Pro’s new texture engine, it precisely reproduces object details in collaboration with the AI learning algorithm. A brand-new portrait algorithm brings out authentic facial features and even reproduces the effects of cosmetics. The spot blurring algorithm achieves a DSLR-level blur that naturally softens the background, allowing the subject to stand out from their surroundings.

The HUAWEI Mate X3 offers XMAGE styles, which reproduce colours to deliver outstanding images. Users can explore three XMAGE styles: Original, Vivid, and Bright. The Vivid and Bright styles enhance your shots and imbue them with a more distinctive flavour. The Vivid style is suitable for capturing natural scenery with an array of colours, such as sunsets or autumn foliage, to capture the beauty of nature. The Bright style can lighten up your images and capture more attractive shots of people or food.

Large and Stunning Display

The immersive large-screen experience is a significant advantage of foldable screen phones. Therefore, Huawei equipped the HUAWEI Mate X3 with the new HUAWEI X-TrueTM technology. This allows users to enjoy a detailed, accurate colour display and an immersive, authentic visual experience.

The HUAWEI Mate X3 comes with a 6.4-inch[7] 3D OLED exterior screen and a 7.85-inch foldable OLED internal screen. Both interior and exterior screens support ultra-high resolution and a 426 PPI pixel density. It is also the first foldable smartphone to receive two TÜV Rheinland Certifications for Colour Accuracy and Precise Colour Projection[8]. It also features an Intelligent Light-Sensitive Display, which delivers consistent viewing experiences across environments and maintains a clear display even in dim lighting.

All-scenario HUAWEI SuperCharge and Long battery life

The HUAWEI Mate X3 has a built-in 4800mAh[9] large battery and supports 66W wired HUAWEI SuperCharge[10], 50W wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge[11], and 7.5W Wireless Reverse Charging, which easily meet the needs of daily use. The HUAWEI Mate X3 is also equipped with a cross-hinge graphene cooling system for greater heat dissipation. The 1800 W/m·K highly thermally-conductive graphene layer helps the phone stay cool, even when handling demanding tasks – useful in scenarios such as charging and gaming.

Smarter interactions for a more efficient and immersive experience

The HUAWEI Mate X3 introduces a dual-screen layout and a newly optimised smart multi-window, which supports Vertical Split-Screen mode and Horizontal Split-Screen mode. With one step, the HUAWEI Mate X3 can intelligently identify whether the app is more suitable for Horizontal Split-Screen or Vertical Split-Screen mode. You can also switch between Vertical Split-Screen and Horizontal Split-Screen modes in one step and save your Customised Split-Screen Combo with just one touch. Save your frequently used split-screen combinations to your home screen and launch two applications with one click, saving time and effort.

IPX8 Rated Water Resistance

The HUAWEI Mate X3 offers IPX8-rated water resistance[12], ensuring reliable protection for users in various environments, such as walking in the rain or lounging by the pool. Furthermore, the HUAWEI Mate X3 has enhanced touch algorithm to significantly improve wet touchscreen accuracy. When users interact with their phones using wet hands or with water droplets on the screen, both the interior and exterior screens work together to read each swipe and tap with greater precision.

New-Generation Multi-Dimensional Hinge

The HUAWEI Mate X3 adopts a new-generation multi-dimensional hinge that is light, durable, and features a stable Flex-Stop for an extraordinary experience. The Wing-Shaped Dual-Track Rotating Shaft enables precise and effortless movements with each fold. The hinge is made of aviation-grade aluminium alloy that is not only ultra-light and ultra-thin, but also extra-durable and long-lasting. The entire unfolding and folding process is optimised with a high-precision cam-drive system. The Flex-Stop is stable and smooth, with effortless unfolding and folding, delivering a free, elegant, and high-end experience.

The HUAWEI Mate X3 revolutionises foldable smartphone technology with its sleek design that prioritises durability, a remarkable camera, and an expansive display.
