Empower underscores importance of ‘UAE Innovation Week 2016’ in reinforcing innovation culture in public and private sectors
Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, said that ‘UAE Innovation Week 2016’, taking place from 20 to 26 November with participation of government, private and academic entities, and various segments of society, is contributing in reinforcing the UAE’s position as a global hub for innovation. It is also a platform for building capacities and disseminating a culture of innovation in the UAE.
’UAE Innovation Week 2016’ is held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for the second time to celebrate innovators and their premium ideas over 7 days.
“Activities of this week aim to strengthen the position of the UAE as a global hub for innovation, also, to motivate institutions and individuals to create initiatives and innovative ideas that serve the community by making innovation a daily practice for individuals and companies alike,” said HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.
“We are glad to exchange our innovative solutions with the outside world through Innovation Week. This helps us to continue the development of district cooling services in Dubai. We have developed a plan to disseminate district cooling systems based on innovation to provide sustainable, efficient, and environmentally friendly services,” added HE Bin Shafar.
“The innovative environment in the UAE motivates us to provide innovative solutions, improve the quality of district cooling and develop better sustainability solutions. We are determined to significantly contribute in enhancing our country’s position among the most innovative countries in the world,” added HE Bin Shafar.
HE Ahmed Bin Shafar stressed that Empower leverages energy-saving and environment-friendly cooling solutions as it constantly works on innovating and developing new and better technologies. This has resulted in the company achieving this special position as the world’s largest district cooling services provider. He said that Empower supports sustainability by using innovative techniques that reduce the use of resources and carbon emissions.
“’ The UAE Innovation Week 2016’ focuses on motivating members of the community and involve them in designing innovations that provide solutions to the challenges and contribute to the development of life patterns that support UAE future vision to enhance the country’s position among the most innovative countries in the world.
“Innovation Week provides an opportunity to explore the avenues of collaboration and exchange of ideas and experiences in our sector by facilitating access to the latest technologies used in district cooling,” added HE Bin Shafar.
Relevantly, Empower has won two global awards for innovation in the district cooling sector in 2013 and 2015 for its innovative approach in reducing energy and water use in the district cooling sector.
Empower currently operates more than 1.2 million tons of cooling capacity, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estates developments, such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, among others.
