Deveo streamlines software development with free private repositories

Code hosting and collaboration platform, Deveo, has launched free private repositories, with support for Git, Mercurial, and Subversion version control systems, as well as the Dropbox alternative, WebDAV, for storing binary files. Unlike other free code hosting platforms, Deveo allows users to choose their preferred version control system, with unlimited private repositories, and team members.

“We are on a mission to streamline the software development workflow for all our users, from startup to enterprise level,” explained Deveo CEO, Ilmari Kontulainen. “Offering free accounts means we can bring the Deveo experience of enterprise level code hosting and collaboration to teams of all sizes. And being the only platform with free, native support for Git, Subversion, Mercurial, and WebDAV gives us a unique flexibility for all kinds of projects.”

Deveo has been creating proprietary software to assist high-profile enterprise teams for the last 10 years. In 2014, the team launched their code hosting and collaboration platform as a standalone application, and while retaining enterprise users, set their sights on the wider industry.

“Software development workflows have been fractured and fragmented for a long time,” said Kontulainen. “We are evolving Deveo on a monthly basis, adding more features and making it a powerful, integrated, and easy to use platform with the code hosting and collaboration tools teams need to make software production seamless.”
