Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (25th May 2022) – As the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia steps into a new digital era with the introduction of the new Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), SAS affirms its commitment with its purpose-built Customer Intelligence 360 Cloud solutions that reflect the vision of the new regulatory framework and enables companies to comply with the legislation.

The Saudi Vision 2030 aspires to build a digitally-led economy with government authorities and private institutions looking to utilize technologies like AI, IoT, cloud and other emerging and disruptive systems to move forward. To support this digital transformation, the Kingdom has implemented the PDPL introduced by Royal Decree M/19 of 9/2/1443H, with an aim to regulate data sharing, ensure privacy and prevent misuse of customer data.

As the pace of customer needs evolve, companies in Saudi Arabia have a responsibility to meet these requirements across multiple channels and touchpoints. The right marketing setup is essential to ensure potential and existing customers are constantly met with the right message at the right time. PDPL will protect an individual’s personal data from any processing by businesses or public entities, state their rights and clarify the responsibilities of the companies collecting the data.

Although SAS cloud services are not based in Saudi Arabia it may helps companies to comply with such requirements. Putting in consideration that the companies located in Saudi Arabia are the sole controllers of their personal data and thus cannot waive off their legal responsibility, especially when it comes to data transfer.

“The digital space is constantly changing. And now, with the emergence of concepts like the Metaverse, Neo banks and more, the digital space is fast approaching new territories that companies need to be aware of and prepared for. SAS believes that is it imperative for companies to understand the role of Customer Intelligence, AI and Analytics in enabling and empowering them to reach business decisions and take these new touchpoints into consideration in their business planning,” said Mohit Soneji, Consulting Director, Gulf Region, at SAS.

He added, “The introduction of the Personal Data Protection Law in Saudi Arabia sets the proper legal framework for the realization of a digitally-led economy outlined in Saudi Arabia’s 2030 Vision. It is a significant development in Saudi Arabia’s legislative landscape that will most probably have implications on almost all entities operating in the market or who offer their services to Saudi customers. By leveraging our Customer Intelligence 360 Cloud solutions, companies can now nimbly react to changing consumer behaviors and the dynamic digital space, while complying with customer privacy frameworks and ensuring the proper processing of the information they collect”.

To avoid the separation of digital channels and direct channels, hence creating a disjointed customer journey,
