Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – 2 June, 2022: Align Technology, Inc. (“Align”) (Nasdaq: ALGN) a leading global medical device company that designs, manufactures, and sells the Invisalign system of clear aligners, iTero intraoral scanners, and exocad CAD/CAM software for digital orthodontics and restorative dentistry, has announced the launch of its iTero Element 5D Plus imaging system in the Middle East. The  launch reflects the company’s commitment to driving innovation in digital orthodontics and restorative dentistry for doctors and their patients across the region.

The iTero Element 5D Plus Imaging System provides a new comprehensive approach to clinical applications, workflows and user experience. Building upon the success of the iTero family of scanners, the iTero Element 5D Plus Imaging System offers doctors superior visualization capabilities and cutting-edge digital scanning performance that delivers a seamless scanning experience, enhancing digital adoption, and productivity.

With the iTero Element 5D Plus imaging system, doctors can simultaneously record 3D, intraoral colour and near infrared imaging (NIRI) images with just one full arch scan, in as little as 60 seconds. The scanner can help doctors further optimise patient experience, supporting minimally invasive treatment and a radiation free diagnosis.

Angelo Maura, General Manager Middle East & Africa at Align Technology, said: “Launching the iTero Element 5D Plus Imaging Scanners in the Middle East is a significant milestone for us, as we continue to solidify our presence in this key market. The iTero Element 5D Plus Imaging System is more than just a scanner – with this new imaging system, doctors in the region can now efficiently and effectively scan patients during routine visits and visualize treatment options together that result in informed decisions for optimum oral care.  We are committed to supporting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued digital advancement through our research, investment, and innovation to expand the realm of digital possibilities for doctors and their patients.”

In line with achieving the goals of the KSA 2030, the Kingdom has been on an upward trajectory towards rapid innovation in the healthcare sector. Along with the launch of its Health Sector Transformation Program, earlier this year, Saudi Arabia’ Ministry of Health launched the first ever virtual hospital in the Middle East, called Seha Virtual Hospital, a specialized hospital that uses the latest innovative technologies to provide specialized services and support health facilities in the Kingdom.

The introduction of the iTero Element 5D Plus imaging systems into Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will provide doctors with the opportunity to further elevate their digital transformation strategies in their practice in order to achieve increased efficiencies and improvements in patient care.

Over 80 dental professionals attended presentations over the course of two consecutive evenings (May 24th and 25that the Ritz Carlton in Riyadh, KSA) where Align Technology presented the iTero Element 5D Plus imaging system to its KSA audience.

The interactive events featured presentations from two leading international digital dentistry experts, who described the role of end-to-end digital treatment in improving both practice efficiency and patient experience. Dr. Ingo Barasel, dentist and president of the German Society for Digital Oral Impressions (DGDOA) discussed the benefits of digitization with iTero scanners for general practitioners. On the second evening, the live webinar was hosted by Invisalign speaker Dr. David Couchat, French orthodontist and clinical speaker who discussed the benefits to orthodontists of digitization with iTero intraoral scanners.

The iTero family of intraoral scanners helps doctors provide their patients with a holistic understanding of their dentition, visualize their treatment outcome, make real-time adjustments to simulations, and easily project corrections and extractions. With unique features, such as the iTero TimeLapse Technology, dentists and orthodontists can provide real-time updates, track and show patients their teeth movements and gingival recession over time.

The iTero Element 5D Plus imaging systems offer 3D models for restorative and orthodontic work, diagnosis, analysis instruments, NIRI technology, and intraoral camera imagery.

The iTero Element 5D Plus imaging system combines these capabilities to provide doctors with the latest computing power and high-definition images. It also comes in a mobile version which allows for improved inter-office portability. The iTero Element 5D Plus imaging systems are also the only intraoral scanners with the capability to integrate the latest software tools and features. Recently announced and available in the Plus Series is iTero Workflow 2.0 software, which includes advanced features that provide enhanced intraoral image sharpness for clearer hard and soft tissue details, as well as new auto upload functionality.

Newly available on the iTero Element Plus Series, is also the Invisalign Outcome Simulator Pro, the next generation of Align’s advanced patient communication tools which enables doctors to show patients their potential new smile after Invisalign treatment, using in-face visualization and/or 3D dentition view, all done chairside in minutes.

Invisalign Outcome Simulator Pro expands Align’s existing Invisalign Outcome Simulator technology and adds the benefits of the Company’s ClinCheck “In-Face” Visualization tool that combines a photo of a patient’s face with their 3D treatment simulation, creating a truly personalized view of how their new smile could look.

The iTero Element 5D Plus Imaging Systems are commercially available now in the UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar. For additional information about the iTero digital scanning system, please visit www.itero.com.
