Arab Ministers for Mineral Resources to convene in Riyadh under aegis of Future Minerals Summit

Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – January 6, 2022: The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, in partnership with the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization (AIDSMO), will convene the ‘Eighth Consultative Meeting of Arab Ministers for Mineral Resources’ in Riyadh on January 11, 2022.

The ministerial meeting is a key part of the first-ever Future Minerals Forum that the Ministry of Industry and Minerals Resources is hosting and convening in Riyadh from January 11-13, 2022. 

H.E. Bandar Bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, is scheduled to open the consultative meeting in the presence of all Arab ministers of industry, energy, oil and mining; along with the Director General of the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization.

The ministerial meeting’s comprehensive agenda includes a review of AIDSMO’s activities in the mineral resources sector during the period between the seventh and eighth consultative ministerial meetings, as well as AIDSMO’s major achievements in implementing the recommendations of the Arab ministers for mineral resources pertaining to: a database for the production of mineral ores in the Arab countries; a geological and mineral portal of the Arab countries; and the building of Arab capacities in the mining sector (Training and Industrial Consulting Institute in AIDSMO).

Also on the agenda is a project to prepare a mining guiding system for Arab countries; the Arab initiative for metals used in clean energy technologies; the Arab industrial and mining products orders and offers platform; and determining the date and venue of the ninth consultative meeting.
