Empower commences operations in third district cooling plant in Business Bay with capacity of 45,000 RT

Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (EMPOWER), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, has commence operations in its third Business Bay district cooling plant.

The company said in a statement the new plant will cover commercial and residential buildings. By this, Empower currently provides 135,000 RT to the entire Business Bay area.The plant took around 12 month to complete construction, through an AED 186 million deal signed in April 2015.

HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer of Empower said the third Business Bay plant followed the strict standards of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), and it also uses Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE). “The new plant is a world-class model in district cooling industry. It reflects our commitment in adhering tohighest sustainability standards and ensuring availability and efficiency.”

In addition to this third plant, Empower operates two other cooling plants in Business Bay. The first was declared number one in followingDubai Executive Council’s directives on environmental sustainability, while the second was the first in Middle East to earn the gold ratingof the v2009 system in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), which is the most recent rating classification employed by the US Green Building Council (USGBC).

We are moving at a steady pace in acquiring a larger share of the district cooling sector in Dubai. We also contribute in introducing new technologies in line with the orientations of the Government of Dubai in environmental sustainability,” added Bin Shafar.

“Empower’s network of district cooling plants covers the vital Business Bay area, so we ensured the highest efficiency and availability around the clock to achieve customer satisfaction in residential and commercial facilities,” elaborated Bin Shafar.

“The new plant represents the utmost efficiency in district cooling we have ever presented. It ensures reduced energy consumption for cooling operations, adopt sustainable technology of TSE, and apply a standard distribution technology that ensures reliable service,” concluded Bin Shafar.

Empower currently operates more than 1 million 100 thousands RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District among others.
