Samsung wraps up its AI training as part of the Samsung Innovation Campus

Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – 10 November 2020: In line with the Kingdom’s goal to drive forward digital innovation, Samsung Electronics Co., today Ltd., concluded its Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC), a worldwide initiative which aims to provide students with academic and professional skills in fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT), to support their employability and boost their career prospects. Held in cooperation with Misk Academy, the Artificial Intelligence program was developed in alignment with the Saudi Vision 2030 to help young adults in the Kingdom prepare for the evolving technology-driven job market.

The local edition of the SIC, developed to encourage young adults to “think globally, act locally,” seeks to inspire the changemakers of tomorrow by equipping Saudi youth with in-demand skills that help them find long-term success. Signaling their increased awareness of the importance of being equipped for a technology-driven future, youth from across the Kingdom showed great interest in pursuing jobs in sectors dependent on Artificial Intelligence.

Launched in July 2020, the AI Training offered participants 240 hours of e-learning lectures, exercises, and practical learning for 12 weeks. Interactive teaching techniques were reinforced through regular tests and a final project.

Speaking about her participation, in the AI program, Areej alZahrani said: “I applied for this program to expand my horizons and learn new skills in the field of AI. I learned a lot during the training on how to apply AI techniques and machine learning to different aspects of situations.”

Mohammed al Maghrabi who also joined the program said that he enrolled because he works in a company within the oil industry that relies heavily on data. This program helped him develop his own capabilities and gave him the opportunity to be part of projects reliant on data and analysis. He was able to put theory to practice through AI applications based on what he learnt during the program from machine learning and AI.

In line with the continuous growth of digital transformation, Samsung Innovation Campus bridges the skills gap in new technologies with the goal of empowering youth in the Kingdom. The initiative, which builds on the objectives laid out by Saudi Vision 2030, provides a unique opportunity for job seekers to develop their skills and contribute to the country’s knowledge-based economy.

In 2021, the third edition of the Samsung Innovation Campus will call on the participation of more young adults from across the Kingdom. Extending its reach to more students, the program will expand to include new learning experiences that offer participants access to various areas within the technology sector.
