Never miss a moment of action in your favorite Saudi sports with the new GSA Live Platform built using cutting-edge Hala Yalla technology

Riyadh, KSA 8 November 2020: Sports fans across Saudi Arabia can now live stream sports matches, and get the latest news, scores and standings with the new GSA Live platform.

Developed in collaboration between the Ministry of Sports and Saudi super app Hala Yalla, the platform gives sports fans a choice of a dedicated website, mobile & tablet apps, and a newly launched Apple TV app, to watch live matches and keep up to date with news from their favorite teams and athletes.

The Kingdom’s first Super App for Sports, Entertainment, and Tourism, Hala Yalla helps people in Saudis to discover new experiences, organise events and more. The Super App aligns with Vision 2030 goals of encouraging a healthier, more active lifestyle among residents in the Kingdom.

The GSA Live platform has been built to link fans to sports media content effortlessly and provide them with convenience and independence to find and watch sports coverage whenever and wherever they want. So far, the GSA Live platform has recorded 9 million views for events streamed through the app.  The free to download application is available for iOS and Android and as an Apple TV app.

The platform aims to meet the huge demand among Saudis to watch live sport, both on their smart devices and in-person at stadiums. About 90% of Saudis now watch videos every month on their smartphones, with a record 1.8 million football fans streaming the Riyadh derby between Al Hilal and Al Nassr last season.

Increasing numbers of fans are also attending live matches at the 12 stadiums across the Mohammed Bin Salman League. In fact, in recent years, attendance has doubled, with 2 million people attending stadium games last season compared to 700,000 fans during the 2010-11 season. However, with the ongoing uncertainty caused by Covid-19, restrictions on the size of stadium crowds mean many fans want a simple and easy way to continue to watch their favourite teams. This makes the GSA Live platform the ideal choice for sports fans.

Users can enjoy a wide range of live streamed content through the GSA Live platform that includes: the ongoing Mohammed Bin Salman League; IHF Super Globe 2019; Friendlies – National; World Cup Asian Qualifiers; Historic Place Historic Clash; Diriyah Tennis Cup; William Hill World Darts Championship; Saudi Super Cup; Spanish Super Cup; Saudi King’s Cup; Arab Cup U-20; and Virtual Racing.

The Apple TV App version, which was released in October 2020, brings a host of features that cover multiple platforms and improve the user experience. It allows viewing of live and previously recorded events and lets viewers search for content using filters to set their preferences for specific competitions or teams and specific date and times.

The new GSA Live platform aims to improve the viewing experience through various platforms for fans watching events and matches, and get supporters closer to their favorite sports. It will soon offer a host of exciting technologies such as augmented and virtual reality views to create immersive viewing experiences.

By digitizing and unifying sports sector resources and enabling content rights, the GSA Live platform also brings increased sponsor engagement to provide more sponsorship opportunities before maximizing them with creative items.

The GSA Live platform forms part of a wider strategy by the Ministry of Sport to develop a unified platform for live streaming that connects clubs, players, and fans.
