STC and Huawei discuss prospects in digital education during summit

Riyadh, KSA – November 1, 2020: stc, a leading service provider in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, hosted the virtual “Hi, Intelligent World” education summit for organizations across Saudi Arabia.

The summit brought together education administrators and decision-makers to explore the use of ICT solutions – including artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, cloud computing, big data, and high-speed networking — that promote the digital transformation of the education industry. Discussions centered around how to facilitate innovation in traditional academic institutions, as well as future trends and prospects for education development in Saudi Arabia.

As academic institutions continue to evolve due to the pandemic, there is a greater need for agile, secure, and efficient networks that can keep up with large amounts of data being shared. To meet this demand, Huawei announced the local release of several end-to-end solutions including Cloud Service, Smart Campus, and Smart Education. These solutions improve virtual classroom communication and collaboration while creating an immersive classroom experience that is not dependent on a fixed, physical location.

Omar Alnoamani, CEO of Solutions by stc, said, “As a digital enabler across the Kingdom, stc has committed to invest in the digital infrastructure and will keep innovating and creating unique and smart solutions that our customers require. In addition, it is our responsibility to promote educational equality and accelerate digital transformation in the field, along with partners like Huawei and decision-makers in the education industry.”

Terry He, CEO of Huawei Tech Investment Saudi Arabia, added, “In line with Vision 2030, Huawei is committed to building new bridges that cross the digital divide, and bring more educational opportunities to the youth of the Kingdom through enriching learning experiences that will enhance their future employment opportunities.”

Summit participants ultimately aim to support the socio-economic development of the country and recognize the importance of virtual education in nurturing local talent; individuals who will be the nation’s assets for achieving its development plans and ambitious visions.
