In June, Saudi Arabia’s government approved the commercial import of electric cars and chargers as part of the Kingdom’s focus on harnessing emerging technologies to accelerate the company’s move towards achieving the Vision 2030 reform plan targets.

“The number of electric vehicle owners in the region is increasing, and we wanted to ensure that they have the means to fuel up while they’re on campus,” said Adnan M. Al Khaldi, Procurement department, Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University. “We’re a forward-looking university, and we wanted to be able to ensure that we could cater to the needs of our staff, students and the public by deploying fast charging solutions that would mean as short a time as possible for getting a full charge, literally minutes, for EV vehicles. These EVlink chargers will be up and running in November and will be open to use for use by PMU staff, students and visitors.”

Schneider Electric’s EVlink Fast Charge stations are designed to charge a vehicle rapidly. They are designed to cover the typical electric vehicle charging needs in commercial destinations, at work, as well as the charging needs of electric vehicle fleets. They’re designed to be simple to use and operate.

“Electric vehicles are the future of mobility in Saudi Arabia,” Mowafak AlSaadi, H&D Marketing Division Manager, Schneider Electric Saudi Arabia. “Today, we’re delighted to install the first Electric Vehicle charging solution in education sector in Saudi Arabia, to provide Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University with the best EV charging technology available. PMU staff, students and visitors who own an electric vehicle will be able to get a full charge in the space of quarter of an hour. The setup couldn’t be easier, and it’s a simple plug-and-go for electric vehicles. We’re proud to be able to reinforce the Kingdom’s drive towards Vision 2030 through clean, sustainable technologies.”
