Huawei helps game developers to thrive in growing MEA market

Huawei is helping to bring developers closer to gamers and revenues while providing consumers across the Middle East and Africa (MEA) with exciting and fun mobile game experiences.

MEA is one of the fastest growing regions in the world and Huawei is working closely with game developers to help them tap into this market and connect with users. By sharing its extensive knowledge and insights into the region, Huawei through HUAWEI AppGallery, has provided invaluable support to developers that has positively impacted their revenues. Since its launch HUAWEI AppGallery has quickly become one of the top three global app marketplaces.

This has also been reflected in the number of games now available on Huawei AppGallery increasing by 5 times compared to January 2020. Currently the Top 5 grossing games in August are: Revenge of Sultans, Garena Free Fire, Rise of Kingdoms, Lords Mobile and Yalla Ludo. The total revenue of the top grossing games has also increased by 9 times from January to August.

Revenge of Sultans is a great example of how developers can benefit through closer collaboration with HUAWEI AppGallery as during the Ramadan campaign the game saw revenues increase by 8 times.
The Ramadan campaign run by HUAWEI AppGallery during the Holy Month this year highlights the support Huawei is providing for partners.

Ramadan is traditionally when many more people watch online content, search the internet on their mobile devices and spend much more time playing mobile games.

The campaign aimed to take advantage of this with Huawei running adverts on HUAWEI AppGallery while partners made cross-promotions within their games and across their social media platforms. In addition, Huawei also worked closely with key influencers and developed promotional videos while carrier partners sent out millions of SMS messages to raise the profile of the campaign.

As a result, HUAWEI AppGallery saw a huge increase in the number of new paying users as well as game revenues.

Adam Xiao, Managing Director, HMS and Consumer Cloud Service for Huawei Consumer Business Group MEA, said: “The huge success of our Ramadan campaign highlights our commitment to developers and partners through HUAWEI AppGallery.

By helping them tap into a much larger user base, developers achieve much higher revenues and consumers benefit from enjoying fun and exciting experiences on their mobile devices. We also provide highly personalized and unique operational support to developers through our local team so that they can optimize their app to deliver exceptional user experiences.”

HUAWEI AppGallery currently has 490 million monthly active users in over 170 countries and regions in the world. In the first half of 2020, user app downloads reached 261 billion, while 1.8 million developers globally have joined the Huawei Mobile Services ecosystem. In addition, and more than 96,000 applications have integrated with HMS Core worldwide, offering users even more unique experiences.
