Public-Private-Academic Partnerships Enable Jordan’s 35,000 Digital Careers

Public-private partnerships are enabling the Jordanian government’s goals of training 35,000 people in digital skills, in line with the World Bank’s Amman Communique, industry experts announced today.

Supporting digital skills build and youth enablement, SAP has celebrated the graduation of the latest cohort of its Young Professional Program in Jordan, in the presence of His Excellency Eng. Mothanna Gharaibeh, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship.

On the foundation of a highly unique collaborative effort, SAP has worked closely with SAP customers, partners, peers and other stakeholders such as universities and government organizations to deliver this program successfully and create a quadruple-win situation: local youth find a job, SAP customers and partners find brilliant talent, SAP enhances its ecosystem, and countries benefit. For the program in Jordan SAP has been supported by ABS, German Jordanian University, Intaj, Intrasoft, JEPCO, and SkyTech.

“Jordan is a Middle East and North Africa leader in driving public-private partnerships to boost the digital economy, foster job creation, and develop young talent to take on digital careers,” said Marita Mitschein, Senior Vice President – Digital Skills, SAP South Europe, Africa and Middle East, and Managing Director of the SAP Training and Development Institute. “Young people in Jordan have the drive and potential to take the countries’ organizations to the next level and drive Digital Transformation. Only if we join hands and support each other we can create the maximum impact.”

As part of the Young Professional Program, 22 formerly unemployed or underemployed university graduates have been trained on software functional and technical knowledge and certification, with a key focus on the latest innovations, and soft and future skill trainings. Participants graduate from the 2-3-month-long program as SAP Associate Consultants, ready to kick-start their careers with SAP’s customers and partners.
