IVI Middle East puts spotlight on advanced male and female assisted fertility techniques
As science continues to advance, new assisted fertility techniques are consistently being developed around the world to bring hope to couples who are struggling to conceive. IVI Middle East Fertility Clinic said IVI remains at the forefront of offering the latest approaches developed to address not just female, but also male infertility issues.

The leading fertility clinic uses two high-tech techniques including sperm extraction procedures called the Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) and the Microsurgical Testicular Sperm Extraction (Micro-TESE) for treating male infertility.
The less invasive FNA uses a thin, hollow needle that is gently inserted through the testicle to retrieve a small amount of tissue for sperm examination. Usually, the test, which is done under local anesthesia, can be done without the need to make a cut in the skin, helping minimise any discomfort as well as reduce the risk of infection or other complications. Sperms obtained via this method are either frozen for subsequent use or prepared using a process of washing and grading.
Micro-TESE, on the other hand, is a highly specialised surgery that is recommended for men who have a condition known as azoospermia, or lack of sperm in ejaculation. This surgical procedure involves incision of the scrotum to look for quality sperm. The extracted sperm is frozen and later sent for in-vitro fertilisation (IVF).
According to Prof. Dr. Human Fatemi, sperm freezing is normally done to avoid another surgical procedure and as a means to fertility preservation.
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), or the process of injecting sperm into eggs obtained via IVF for embryo development, is another technique developed to address male infertility due to impaired semen quality. The injection is given using an inverted microscope under high magnification. Many of IVI male patients undergo ICSI.
