Dubai, UAE | January 9, 2026 | Day One Report

The fourth edition of the 1 Billion Followers Summit opened today in Dubai under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, positioning the emirate as the undisputed global capital of the creator economy.

The sold-out event, organized by the UAE Government Media Office, is being hosted across three iconic venues: Emirates Towers, Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), and the Museum of the Future. Over 30,000 attendees, including 15,000+ content creators and 500 speakers with a combined reach of 3.5 billion followers, have gathered under the theme “Content for Good.”

Opening Ceremony Highlights

Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of UAE Cabinet Affairs, delivered the opening address, emphasizing the transformative power of content in shaping modern society. “Content is now an integral part of politics, a driver of economy and a force shaping communities,” Al Gergawi stated. “Over 50 million videos are produced around the world daily across just two of the many existing social platforms. Individuals are exposed to more than 10,000 media messages and spend an average of 5 hours on social media every day.”

Al Gergawi highlighted the summit’s remarkable growth, noting that its collective speaker reach expanded from 1 billion followers in the inaugural edition to 3.5 billion in this fourth edition. “We want creators to shift from amassing followers to driving change, and from creating content that wastes the user’s time to one that builds and empowers the individual,” he added.

Sheikh Mohammed toured the summit and met with leading creators, later sharing via X: “Content creation is a message and a responsibility. It is an industry through which we push our societies towards the better, inspire generations, create economic opportunities, and change our future for the better.”

Major Initiatives Unveiled

1 Billion Acts of Kindness Campaign: In partnership with MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson), the world’s most-followed YouTuber, and supported by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and the Varkey Foundation, this initiative has already inspired over 170,000 acts of kindness and garnered 100 million views in just three weeks. Day One featured the announcement of 20 creators who will travel to Ghana with MrBeast to build an entire village with schools, healthcare facilities, and sustainable infrastructure. $1 Million AI Film Award: In collaboration with Google Gemini, the summit launched the world’s largest AI-generated film competition. The award attracted over 30,000 participants from 116 countries and received 3,500 film submissions. Films must be at least 70% AI-generated using Google’s tools including Veo, Imagen, and Flow. The top 5 finalist films will be screened on January 10, with the grand prize winner announced on January 11.

World’s First Educators Award: Launched in partnership with TikTok, this initiative focused on edutainment content attracted over 610,000 participants and generated 320,000 educational videos with 1.8 billion views on the platform.

Creators Ventures Accelerator: Offering up to AED 50 million (approximately $13.6 million) in funding to support content-driven startups, this program aims to help creators scale their ventures globally.

AI Takes Center Stage

Artificial intelligence emerged as a dominant theme on Day One. Al Gergawi emphasized: “We deeply believe that those who do not embrace AI now will be left behind. Today, social media companies spend around $250 billion on AI, with 86% of creators utilizing generative AI tools, which help quadruple the amount of produced content while cutting 60% of costs.”

He also noted that 70% of images circulating on social media today are AI-generated, signaling a fundamental shift in content creation. The summit features 10 dedicated sessions and workshops on practical AI applications in content creation.

Global Speakers and Platform Giants

Day One featured the opening session of the 1 Billion Acts of Kindness with MrBeast, Saeed Al Eter (CEO of MBRGI), Sunny Varkey (Founder of the Varkey Foundation), and Jeffrey Housenbold (CEO of Beast Industries), exploring how digital content can drive measurable real-world humanitarian impact. Comedian, director, and podcaster Max Amini delivered a candid conversation about his creative journey.

The three-day event will also feature Hollywood actor Will Smith, political figure and media personality Lara Trump, entrepreneur Simon Squibb, Emaar founder Mohamed Alabbar, and football legend Rio Ferdinand.
